My 1st & only paleo book.
Excellent as an introduction & for reference, good selection of recipes with nice pictures but unfortunately I haven't found many of the recipes that good yet. They're OK, just not amazing. Maybe it's just my tastes.

It's a bit sad that I seem to only feel inspired(/remember) to take pictures when it comes to food.
Baked sweet potatoes, salmon patties and homegrown salad.
I applied for this last summer - it only took a year to reach us!

another paleo food post

I love asaparagus season.
[paleo breakfast: eggs fried in ghee, steamed asparagus, more ghee, seasoning]

yes, I had chocolate cake and fried apples for lunch, so what?
microwave paleo chocolate cake in a mug (with an additional 1/4 tsp bicarb of soda & 1/2 tsp cream of tartar - i found the original too dense, this makes it fluffier - some chopped strawberries - it's a bit dry without - and some green and blacks dark choc - just because)
fried apples literally just sliced, fried in ghee for 5 minutes, add sprinkle of cinnamon, fry until desired texture (i like mine slightly browned, mm..) can add a smidge of honey at the beginning for some more caremalising but when it comes with cake, i wouldn't bother. use remaining buttery juices over cake.

recipe: paleo rissoles

ingredients
--
8oz cooked beef (or lamb, if you're that way inclined)
vegetables: at least 1 finely chopped small onion & 1 clove crushed garlic; I also use celery
2 level tsp chopped parsley (or mixed herbs/herb of choice)
1 small egg, beaten
1.5oz/40g ground almonds
touch of tomato puree
salt & pepper
butter/clarified butter/lard/coconut oil for frying

method
--
1) put cooked meat into food processor, or grind through a mincer.
2) add finely chopped veg, egg, herbs, ground almonds, tomato puree & seasoning.
3) mix well.
4) shape into burgers (above quantities should make 6).
5) fry for around 5 minutes on each side, until browned & cooked through.

loosely based on a recipe by delia smith.

I use this two days after a roast, if there is meat still left over. I don't really weight anything, I just add things until they are the right consistency and it seems to work well enough. Delicious with a leafy salad, home made guacamole and the paleo herb buns that I mention frequently.

this was SO GOOD.
paleo herb buns {I used melted butter because I still can't face coconut oil in large quantities. They turned out much softer than I was expecting}, watercress salad & organic beef burgers made with finely chopped onions & celery.
[lets not go into detail about the sauces, I was being lazy]
